Adventist Health signs Bright.md for virtual physician's assistant platform

Share

Roseville, Calif.-based Adventist Health implemented a virtual care solution from Bright.md at its facilities in Oregon.

The health system deployed SmartExam, a software tool that helps primary care providers complete remote evaluations. SmartExam acts as a “virtual physician’s assistant,” interviewing patients about their healthcare concerns via computer or smartphone, according to Bright.md.

The software’s built-in artificial intelligence will then deliver relevant information to the patient’s primary care provider to inform remote diagnosis and treatment.

“SmartExam provides patients with the simplest, quickest, least expensive access to medical care for acute conditions,” said Ralph Prows, MD, chief medical officer at Adventist Health.

Bright.md, a Portland-based virtual care startup, recently raised $8 million in Series B funding. B Capital Group, a global venture capital firm focused on healthcare and enterprise software companies, led the funding round.

The startup has raised $11.5 million since launching in 2014.
